AMUDA Expansion Broadens Scope for Planned Urban Development
The Amalapuram Urban Development Authority, or AMUDA, has become much larger.
Its area now covers 1,765.45 square kilometres instead of 896.16 square kilometres.
Eight more mandals and one Urban Local Body were added.
AMUDA now includes 19 mandals, three Urban Local Bodies and 272 villages.
The three Urban Local Bodies are in Amalapuram, Mummidivaram and Ramachandrapuram.
Officials said the expansion can help the region plan its growth better.
They are working to coordinate administration and development in the newly added areas.
The latest expansion was announced by officials at a press conference.
AMUDA’s jurisdiction has expanded from 896.16 sq km to 1,765.45 sq km.
The latest government order adds one Urban Local Body and eight mandals.
AMUDA now covers 19 mandals, three Urban Local Bodies and 272 revenue villages.
The authority includes Amalapuram Municipality, Mummidivaram Nagar Panchayat and Ramachandrapuram Municipality.
Officials said coordination would be undertaken for administration and urban development in newly included gram panchayats.
