Umar Farooq Khan Urges Free Insurance Cover for Blood Donors
When people donate blood, doctors use it to help sick or injured people.
A man named Kalluru Umar Farooq Khan thinks people who donate blood are heroes.
He asked the government to give every regular blood donor a free insurance plan worth 10 lakh rupees.
Insurance is a safety promise that gives money if something bad happens.
Khan has been helping with blood donation for almost 25 years.
He says he helped arrange blood for about 26,000 people.
Earlier, blood donors used to get insurance benefits, but now they do not.
He also wants the government to give awards to donors every year.
The health minister, Prataprao Jadhav, listened to him and said he would talk to other officials.
He said a decision will be made later.
Kalluru Umar Farooq Khan urged the Centre to provide free annual insurance cover of ₹10 lakh to regular blood donors.
The representation was submitted to Union Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav during a programme in Hindupur, Sri Sathya Sai district, on Sunday.
Khan said he has facilitated blood supply in around 26,000 cases over nearly 25 years, including deliveries, emergency surgeries and thalassaemia treatment.
He noted that insurance benefits for blood donors were earlier provided but are currently unavailable, and appealed for their restoration.
Minister Jadhav responded positively and assured that the issue would be discussed with senior officials and the Centre before a decision.
