Maharashtra Unveils ‘Farm to Foreign’ Plan to Boost Textile Exports
Maharashtra wants to turn more of its farm products into clothing and other textile goods.
The plan is called ‘Farm to Foreign’ because it aims to sell these products around the world.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the state wants farmers, factories, designers and businesses to work together.
New textile parks and clusters are expected to create jobs and attract investment.
The state also wants textile factories to be environmentally friendly, digital and open about their work.
Women may receive tailoring and garment-making training to help them find jobs or start businesses.
Traditional products such as Paithani sarees and Kolhapuri footwear will also be promoted abroad.
Better roads, airports and ports are intended to help products reach customers faster.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said Maharashtra’s ‘Farm to Foreign’ initiative will connect farmers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs and the global fashion industry.
The state is pursuing a ‘Five F’ approach spanning farm production, fibre, factories, fashion and foreign markets.
PM MITRA Park in Nagpur and the Amravati Textile Cluster are expected to support investment, employment and textile-sector growth.
