Delhi EV demand surges, but buyers ask: when will subsidy arrive?

The city of Delhi made a new rule to help people buy electric vehicles, which are scooters and cars that run on batteries instead of petrol.

The rule says that by April 1, 2028, only electric two-wheelers can be registered in Delhi.

Because of this, many more people are now asking about electric scooters, and more are buying them.

In July, over ten thousand electric vehicles were bought in Delhi, which is more than in June or last July.

But buyers are worried because the government promised money, called a subsidy, to help pay for the vehicles.

No one is sure exactly when that money will come, and it may take a few months after buying the scooter.

Some people remember previous cases where people did not get their subsidy.

Because of this worry, some buyers are waiting to see what happens before they buy.

Store workers say the news will spread quickly once even a few people start receiving their subsidy money.

The Delhi government has not yet answered questions about when the subsidy will be paid.
