Odisha Health Worker, Assam Conservationist Invited to Rashtrapati Bhavan Reception
India is getting ready for a very special birthday called Independence Day on August 15, 2026.
That is the day India became free a long time ago, in 1947.
The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, lives in a big house called Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Every year, she holds a special party there to celebrate Independence Day.
This year, she invited two very kind helpers to that party.
One of them is Durgaprasad Sahu, a health worker from Odisha.
He helps sick people, mothers, and babies in faraway villages and has done this for 13 years.
He has taken care of nearly 4,000 people, including the Bonda tribal community.
The other helper is Didom Daimari, a nature protector from Assam who takes care of forests and wild animals.
Both are being honored because their work has made a big difference for people and nature.
India will celebrate its 80th Independence Day on Saturday, August 15, 2026, marking 79 completed years of freedom since 1947.
Odisha health worker Durgaprasad Sahu and Assam conservationist Didom Daimari received invitations to the President's 'At Home' Reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
President Droupadi Murmu will host the reception and meet the invitees in recognition of exceptional grassroots public service.
Sahu, an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife, has served 13 years at the Andahal Health Sub-Centre in Malkangiri district, providing healthcare to nearly 4,000 people including the Bonda tribal community.
