Three Government Coalition Parties Have Not Decided on Backing Prabowo in 2029
Three of the seven parties in Indonesia’s governing coalition in parliament have not decided whether to back President Prabowo Subianto in the 2029 presidential election.
The parties are Demokrat, PKS and NasDem, and each says it is focused on the government’s work before deciding on election support.
PKS says its Syuro Council, the party body responsible for the decision, has not made one.
NasDem says it will consider its position after the 2029 election process begins.
Three other coalition parties—Golkar, PAN and PKB—have said they support Prabowo running again.
Gerindra, Prabowo’s party, says the choice of a running mate will be up to him.
The parties that have not decided have given no date for when they will settle their position.

Since the end of 2024, Golkar’s position has been clear. For the 2029 presidential election, we already have a candidate, Mr Prabowo.
That position was officially declared by PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan at PAN’s 2025 National Working Meeting.
PKB supports 100 percent or even 1,000 percent Prabowo Subianto’s candidacy again as a 2029 presidential candidate, because he is very worthy of leading Indonesia again for a second term.
It is still being discussed, awaiting the start of the 2029–2034 election stages.
