Indonesia to Send 30 Kg of Rice to 33.2 Million Recipients

Indonesia’s Food Affairs Coordinating Ministry handed out 5 kilograms of rice to residents of Manado, in North Sulawesi, on Thursday.

That local assistance is separate from a national presidential food aid program for October through December 2026.

The national program is intended for 33.2 million people in the first four income groups, with each recipient due 30 kilograms of rice for the three months.

The rice will be delivered in one batch, and distribution is expected to begin in about one to two weeks.

The previous round, for July through September, has been completed.

The government is also sending 1 million tons of rice to traditional markets at 12,500 rupiah per kilogram to offer a lower-cost option.

It says the measures are meant to help families and keep food supplies and prices manageable.
