Verstappen wins in Singapore despite radio problems
Max Verstappen won the Singapore Grand Prix for Red Bull in 2026, after also taking two pole positions over the sprint weekend.
He said a problem before he released the clutch hurt his start, and later deployment issues briefly let Charles Leclerc threaten him.
His radio was also not working properly, so the team could hear him but could not understand his replies.
Red Bull engineer Gianpiero Lambiase used simple signals to get Verstappen’s preference on whether to pit if a safety car appeared.
Team principal Laurent Mekies said the radio problem was on Red Bull’s side and that the team would seek a strong solution.
