Verstappen takes Singapore pole after sprint victory
Max Verstappen won Saturday’s sprint race and took pole position for Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix.
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will start close behind him, while Red Bull has struggled with slow starts in recent races.
Verstappen has also had a run of strong results, including three podium finishes before his first grand prix win of the season last weekend.
His improved form follows work by Red Bull to make the car more predictable.
Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli leads Verstappen by 129 points, with 175 points still available, so a title comeback would require an extraordinary turn of events.
