Bulog projects rice purchases could reach 130% of 2026 target
Bulog, Indonesia’s state food logistics agency, says it has bought more than 4 million tonnes of rice from domestic sources.
That is about 102% of the target set by the government, according to its chief, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani.
Bulog expects purchases to reach 130% of the target by the end of 2026.
Rizal linked the high level of purchases to government support for farmers, including a guaranteed minimum buying price of 6,500 rupiah per kilogram for harvested paddy.
He said Bulog buys the paddy at that price, so farmers are not selling below the set minimum.
The government and Bulog aim to sustain food self-sufficiency and strengthen food security, but the 130% figure is a projection rather than a final result.
Perum Bulog projects that its domestic rice purchases will reach 130% of the government target by the end of 2026.
Bulog chief Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said purchases had already exceeded 4 million tonnes, or about 102% of the target.
He attributed the high purchase level in part to government support for agriculture and a guaranteed purchase price for harvested dry paddy.
The government-set price is Rp6,500 per kilogram, and Rizal said Bulog buys farmers’ paddy at no less than that price.
