Pertamina gives Sade weavers 45 looms after August fire

A fire in August damaged homes and buildings used for business and cultural activities in Sade, a Sasak village in Central Lombok, Indonesia.

The damage disrupted livelihoods that include weaving, selling souvenirs and guiding visitors.

Some weavers lost equipment and places to work.

Pertamina has given local weavers 45 looms and is providing training support to help them resume production.

The woven cloth is both a source of income and part of Sade’s cultural identity.

The support is intended to help restore family earnings and the village’s cultural tourism.

Weaving and sales to visitors are expected to help the local economy recover, though no timeline was given.
