Goldman Sachs executives could share stock awards worth up to $500m
Goldman Sachs is preparing stock awards worth up to $500m for about 20 senior executives, including chief executive David Solomon.
Solomon could receive shares worth about $100m, but the final values have not yet been confirmed.
The awards come from a long-term plan set up in 2021, rather than a new cash bonus.
Their value depends on Goldman’s share-price gains over five years and how its stock performs compared with rival banks.
Goldman says the plan is designed to reward performance and help retain senior staff.
The bank’s stock has risen sharply over the period, increasing the potential value of the awards.
The shares will be subject to restrictions, so the total is not an unrestricted cash payment.
The final amount is expected later this month.
About 20 senior Goldman Sachs executives are expected to share a stock-based award pot worth around or more than $500 million.
Chief executive David Solomon is expected to receive the largest share, with estimates ranging from about $100 million to more than $100 million.
The awards come from a long-term performance plan developed in 2021, with values linked to Goldman Sachs’ share performance and its performance against other banks over five years.
The final value was expected to be confirmed later in October 2026, and the reported total was not a confirmed cash payment.
The awards are to be delivered in Goldman Sachs shares, which are subject to restrictions on sale and transfer after delivery.
Goldman Sachs said the plan was designed to link compensation to performance, support leadership continuity and retain senior talent.
