Apple reportedly cuts iPhone 18 Pro component orders by up to 20%
Apple has reportedly asked some suppliers to make fewer components for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The reported cuts to October orders range from at least 15% to as much as 20%.
The phones cost $100 more than their predecessors, partly reflecting higher memory costs.
Nikkei Asia’s sources say the higher prices have weakened demand, but Reuters has not independently verified the reporting, and Apple did not comment to Reuters.
The timing of Apple’s launches may also help explain the change: the company released its premium models first, while the standard iPhone 18 is expected in spring.
The order cuts affect some suppliers, and it is not clear whether Apple will make further changes after October.
Apple’s fiscal fourth-quarter earnings, due November 6, are expected to offer an early look at demand for the new phones.
Reports citing Nikkei Asia say Apple has asked some suppliers to reduce component orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The reported cuts to October orders range from at least 15% to 15–20%, compared with Apple’s original plans.
The reports attribute weaker-than-expected demand partly to higher prices linked to rising memory costs.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 in the United States, $100 more than its predecessor, according to Android Authority.
A report also said Apple shares fell more than 2.5% in early trading after the news.
The scale of the demand slowdown is uncertain, as the reports note that Apple’s changed launch schedule may also affect component orders.
