UK installs offshore platform to store captured CO2 beneath Liverpool Bay
The UK has installed an offshore platform in Liverpool Bay to help store carbon dioxide captured from industrial sites.
Existing pipelines will carry the gas to depleted reservoirs beneath the seabed.
The project’s first phase is expected to store 109 million tons over its lifetime.
This could help reduce emissions from industries in northwest England and north Wales.
