L. Murugan resigns as minister and plans to focus on BJP in Tamil Nadu

L. Murugan has resigned as a Union minister and left the Rajya Sabha to focus on the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tamil Nadu.

He served as Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

Murugan says he wants to work with party members on the ground and strengthen the BJP in the southern state.

He said the goal is to prepare the party for India’s 2029 general election.

Murugan is from Tamil Nadu and has served in the Rajya Sabha twice.

His next focus is building the party’s organisation in Tamil Nadu, though no further steps were specified.

With humility and grateful heart, I therefore request you to relieve me of my responsibility as MoS and permit me to relinquish my membership of the Rajya Sabha, so that I may dedicate full time to strengthening the party in Tamil Nadu

Now, I wish to return to the grassroots, stand with our karyakartas and dedicate myself full-time to strengthening the BJP in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
