Sheinbaum calls on Jalisco governor to explain use of tear gas at water protest
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus should explain why authorities used tear gas and water to disperse a protest.

Sheinbaum said Jalisco authorities should also provide the names of those detained, and said she opposes repression.
She also rejected Lemus’s proposed private financing for water services, saying it would amount to privatization.
She said state and federal authorities should work together and use shared public funds to address the contamination.
Sheinbaum also said former Jalisco governor Enrique Alfaro did not provide state funding for a pipeline linked to the El Zapotillo dam project.
A meeting between the governor’s team and Mexico’s National Water Commission was scheduled for that day.

What people are saying
The governor of Jalisco has to report on this matter, because it was a decision they made and the authorities of Jalisco have to report why they made this decision, and the people detained, and at the same time, give the names of all the people detained; we do not agree with repression.
What we do not agree with is supporting the privatization of the water service, and in any case, that we technically solve the problem of water contamination in Jalisco together with common resources, because it is a problem and it must be addressed.
