Morena and social groups call for a strategic alliance in Mexico

More than 2,000 people attended a meeting of Morena and social organizations at the National Medical Center’s Congress venue in Mexico City.

The gathering included Morena national leader Ariadna Montiel Reyes and representatives of popular, labor and community groups.

Participants described the proposed alliance as a way to bring together long-standing demands, rather than as a temporary agreement.

They said Morena should help turn those demands into a common agenda and give greater voice to groups that have faced exclusion, including Indigenous peoples and people with disabilities.

They argued that inclusion should bring practical gains such as justice, participation and better living conditions.

The organizers also linked the alliance to support for President Claudia Sheinbaum’s national project and Mexico’s sovereignty.

The meeting ended with a call for unity and for ongoing channels of dialogue and coordination so communities and workplaces can influence the national agenda.
