Google launches Fitbit Edge with GPS, health tracking and replaceable battery

Google has announced the Fitbit Edge, a fitness tracker designed to sit between its screenless Fitbit Air and the more watch-like Pixel Watch.

It costs $179.99, is available to preorder, and goes on sale October 27.

The Edge has a color display, built-in GPS, and tools for tracking workouts, sleep and health measurements, including ECG readings.

Google says it can recognize up to 100 types of activity and last up to seven days on a charge.

Its battery can be replaced, a first for a Fitbit tracker, which may help extend how long people can use it.

Some health trends and coaching features require a Google Health Premium subscription.

The device also comes in a Stephen Curry edition for $219.99.
