Smart unveils two-seat #2 electric car with a targeted 290 km range

Smart, a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely, unveiled the electric #2 at the Paris Motor Show on October 12.

The two-seat car brings back the compact city-car format associated with Smart’s earlier Fortwo models.

Its European version has a 35.8 kWh battery and a 60 kW motor that drives the rear wheels.

Smart targets a range of 290 km, but the European specifications still need final approval.

The company says fast charging can take the battery from 10% to 80% in about 20 minutes.

In Europe, prices start at €19,990, and deliveries are due to begin in 2027; early ordering is also planned in China, where local pricing and availability have not been announced.

The return to a two-seat car follows Smart’s expansion into larger electric models.
