Assam Govt Transfers Rs 160 Cr to Flood‑Affected Families
The state of Assam in India had a big flood that hurt many people.
The government gave about 160 crore rupees to 75,000 families that were hit hardest.
Each family got 15,000 rupees right away, and a smaller amount of 10,000 rupees will be given soon to the worst affected families.
The money is sent straight into their bank accounts so they can buy food, fix houses, and start rebuilding.
The floods killed 85 people and left more than 1.3 million people in trouble.
The government is still checking how badly the damage is and will decide more help later.
Assam government transferred about Rs 160 crore in interim relief to roughly 75,000 households affected by the floods.
Each of those households received Rs 15,000 via Direct Benefit Transfer, with an additional Rs 10,000 tranche planned for severely hit families.
The relief also included subsidies under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana for eligible families.
The floods have killed 85 people and left over 1.36 lakh people affected, with many villages still inundated.
The state is conducting damage assessments and will determine final compensation after the interim assistance.
