Assam Government Prepares Roadmap for Statewide Cleanliness Drive

The government of Assam has a plan to make the whole state much cleaner.

It wants to turn a program called the Swachh Bharat Mission into a lasting, community-driven movement.

The plan focuses on teaching people new habits and managing trash in a scientific way.

Officials want to make sure toilets and other sanitation facilities keep working after they are built.

They also talked about separating waste at home, treating wastewater and building sanitation that can handle climate change.

Technology, like GIS-based maps, will be used to track how clean different areas are.

Every year, the government will give awards to the cleanest districts, towns, villages, wards and even streets.

Winners at the state level will receive a rolling trophy or shield.

Everyone is encouraged to join in, including citizens, youth groups, NGOs and self-help groups.

The big goal is for Assam to become one of the cleanest states in India.
