Assam announces fresh relief package for flood victims

Many people in Assam, a state in India, have been affected by big floods.

The government of Assam announced a special help package for these families.

The Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said the help is already being given to people.

Each family will get some money to buy their immediate needs like food and water.

Families in the two worst-hit districts will get a little extra money.

If someone lost their life in the floods, their family will get financial support too.

People also do not need to pay back their loans for six months.

The government will check how much damage the floods caused, starting from August 9.

Children who lost their schoolbooks will get help to replace them.

The government is working to make sure everyone gets the support they need.
