Assam Flood Death Toll Reaches 100, Including 18 Children

Assam is a state in India where very heavy rain made rivers overflow and flood many towns and villages.

The water has covered homes, roads, and fields, making life difficult and dangerous for people.

Sadly, 100 people have died because of the floods, and 18 of them were children.

Officials keep careful records, and in one district called Sivasagar they found a name was counted twice by mistake, so they fixed the number from 50 to 49.

Some districts, like Sivasagar and Cachar, were hurt much more than others.

In Jorhat district alone, about 1.66 lakh (166,000) people in 304 villages were affected, and crops and animals were damaged too.

Rescue teams are working hard to help people and bring them food, water, and safety.

The central and state governments are helping with relief and medical care.

Another state called Chhattisgarh is sending 5 crore rupees, a very large amount of money, to help the people of Assam.
