Thane Municipal Corporation Celebrates 80th Independence Day With Patriotic Fervour
Every year on August 15, India celebrates its Independence Day.
In 2026, India marked its 80th Independence Day.
The city of Thane joined in the celebration too.
The city's municipal corporation, called TMC, hosted a big ceremony.
The Mayor, Sharmila Pimpale-Kolkar, raised the Indian national flag.
The city's Commissioner, Saurabh Rao, was also present.
Police officers, firefighters, and disaster response teams saluted the flag in a special ceremony.
The city also said thank you to ten workers who keep the streets clean.
These workers received the Best Worker Award.
Everyone also remembered the national leaders who are important to India's freedom story.
India's 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) civic headquarters.
Mayor Sharmila Pimpale-Kolkar unfurled the National Flag in the presence of Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao.
A joint contingent of the TMC Security Force, Fire Brigade, and Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) presented a guard of honour.
Ten sanitation workers were conferred the Best Worker Award for their exceptional service in keeping Thane clean.
Dignitaries paid floral tributes to portraits of national leaders at the Narendra Ballal Auditorium inside the TMC headquarters.
