LG hails youth energy at Delhi's 80th Independence Day event
A very important leader in Delhi, called the Lieutenant Governor, held a special flag ceremony to celebrate India's Independence Day.
Independence Day is the day India became a free country many years ago.
This year, the country celebrated its 80th Independence Day.
The ceremony took place at a place called Lok Niwas.
Many special guests came to watch, including freedom fighters, students, and families.
The Lieutenant Governor said that working together can turn hard problems into good chances for everyone.
He also said that young people are the real strength of modern Delhi.
He talked about important things Delhi needs to fix, like cleaning the Yamuna river, cleaning the air, making sure everyone has a home, and keeping women and children safe.
Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu hoisted the Tricolour at Lok Niwas on India's 80th Independence Day.
The ceremony was attended by freedom fighters and their families, RWA representatives, youth icons, students, and residents of Delhi.
Sandhu urged seamless coordination between the Union Government, Delhi government, municipal bodies, neighbouring states, and citizens.
The LG described the energy of the youth as the real strength of modern Delhi.
Priorities for the Capital include cleaning the Yamuna river, tackling air pollution, housing for all, affordable healthcare, safety and security, traffic management, and heritage rejuvenation.
