On August 14, the two most important leaders of Puducherry—the Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister—wished people a happy Independence Day.

India celebrates its Independence Day on August 15 as one of its biggest national holidays.

This year is the 80th Independence Day.

The leaders asked everyone to put the Indian flag on their homes.

This is part of a special campaign called 'Har Ghar Tiranga'.

They also told people to stay united and respect the country.

The Chief Minister remembered the brave freedom fighters who helped India become free.

The leaders said India is making good progress and growing stronger.

Two days later, on August 16, Puducherry will celebrate its own special day called Liberation Day.
