Delhi L-G, CM greet people, call for building 'Viksit Bharat'
India's Independence Day is the day the country became free a long time ago.
On this day, important leaders send messages to everyone in the country.
The leader of Delhi, called the Lt Governor, and the Chief Minister both wished the people of India a happy Independence Day.
This year, India celebrated its 80th Independence Day.
The leaders reminded everyone that brave heroes fought hard and made sacrifices to win freedom for India.
They asked citizens to say thank you to these brave martyrs.
The leaders also said that now it is our job to make India strong and prosperous.
They used the special name 'Viksit Bharat' for their dream of a developed India by the year 2047.
They believe every citizen should work together to help the country grow.
That way, the sacrifices of the freedom fighters will not be wasted.
Delhi Lt Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta greeted people on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day on Saturday.
Sandhu urged people across the country to unite with a renewed resolve to build a stronger, more prosperous and developed India.
Sandhu expressed gratitude to the brave martyrs whose supreme sacrifices won India its freedom.
Gupta said the sacred Independence Day reminded citizens of the struggle that granted India its freedom and the resolve that will make it a developed nation.
Gupta said the responsibility to realise the dreams of freedom heroes rests with the current generation and every citizen must devote efforts to national service and nation building.
