Delhi PWD to inspect 139 waterlogging hotspots, report Monday
Heavy rain flooded many parts of Delhi and made traffic move very slowly.
Some areas also had problems with flights.
Officials found 139 places where water collects badly.
The Delhi Public Works Department, or PWD, must inspect all these places.
Officers will check drains, pumps, blockages and other possible causes.
They will suggest quick fixes and longer-term solutions.
Senior officials have been sent to important roads and other trouble spots.
Their report is due by Monday, August 31, before more rain may arrive.
The Delhi government directed the Public Works Department to inspect 139 waterlogging hotspots across the capital.
The hotspots include 113 locations identified through August 20 and 26 found after rain on August 24.
Heavy rainfall on August 24 and 25 caused severe waterlogging, traffic disruption and flight disruptions across Delhi-NCR.
Senior PWD officers will examine drainage, outfalls, blockages, pumping systems and encroachments at the affected locations.
Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers must submit location-wise findings and short- and long-term recommendations by Monday, August 31.
