Four KIIT Students Win Medals for India at Glasgow Games
Some very talented students from a big university in India went to a huge sports competition called the Commonwealth Games, held in the city of Glasgow.
A university called KIIT sent 12 of its students to compete for India.
Four of them came home with shiny medals.
Two won silver medals for jumping far, in the long jump and triple jump.
One won silver for jumping very high, in the high jump.
Another won bronze in the decathlon, where athletes compete in ten different events.
One of the silver medals was India's first-ever silver in high jump at these Games.
The bronze medal was India's first medal ever in the decathlon at the Games.
In total, Indian athletes won 39 medals in Glasgow, and everyone is very proud of them.
India returned from the Glasgow Commonwealth Games with 39 medals — 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze.
Four KIIT students won medals: Praveen Chithravel (triple jump silver), Murali Sreeshankar (long jump silver), Sarvesh Kushare (high jump silver) and Tejaswin Shankar (decathlon bronze).
Twelve KIIT students represented India at the Games, with the institute based in Bhubaneswar.
Kushare took India's first-ever silver in high jump at the Commonwealth Games, while Shankar won India's first CWG decathlon medal.
Kushare next targets gold at the Asian Games in Aichi–Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, after a rest stint in the Czech Republic.
