India's mega infrastructure spend crosses Rs 21.97 lakh crore
The Indian government is building many big things like roads, trains, airports, and power lines.
It has a huge budget for these projects.
So far, it has spent more than half of that money.
There are over 1,800 projects happening right now, and many of them are almost finished.
The largest area of spending is transport, which helps people and goods move from one place to another.
The government uses a special computer system to keep track of how the work is going.
This system also measures how well infrastructure like power and railways is performing.
Seeing how much money is spent helps the government know if the projects are on track.
These projects are important because they help the economy grow and create more jobs.
Better roads and railways also make everyday travel easier for people.
Centre's spending on 1,847 major infrastructure projects reached Rs 21.97 lakh crore as of June 2026, over 54% of the Rs 40.54 lakh crore total investment.
Around 709 projects have exceeded 80% physical progress, while 337 projects passed 80% financial completion.
The transport and logistics sector leads with 1,341 projects worth Rs 22.32 lakh crore.
Projects are monitored through PAIMANA, a digital platform developed by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation for projects costing Rs 150 crore or more.
A Performance Monitoring Dashboard launched on April 16, 2026 now covers 165 indicators across six infrastructure sub-sectors.
