Rs 18.66 lakh crore infrastructure projects approved under PM GatiShakti

The government of India has a big plan called PM Gati Shakti to build roads, trains, power lines, ports, airports and phone networks all together.

The idea is that different departments plan together so projects finish faster and cost less.

The government looked at 396 big building projects that together would cost about Rs 18.66 lakh crore.

Out of those, 256 projects were approved to start.

Right now, 198 of those projects are already being built.

India's cost of moving goods is now about 7.9 per cent of the country's whole economy, which is as good as rich countries.

A study by the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore found that every rupee spent on national highways adds Rs 3.2 to the economy.

In September 2025, the government opened the PM Gati Shakti data platform to everyone.

Now companies and people can use the same maps and data to plan their own projects.

Fifty-eight ministries and all 36 states and union territories are part of this plan.
