Centre's Q1 Receipts Reach 28.7% of FY27 Target
Every year, the government makes a plan for how much money it expects to receive and spend, called a budget.
This news is about the first three months of India's financial year, up to June 2026.
During that time, the government received about Rs 10.49 lakh crore.
That is about 28.7 percent of its target for the whole year.
The government also spent about Rs 13.57 lakh crore in the same period.
It spent much more on big public projects like highways, railways and ports than it did last year.
It also shared some tax money with state governments, though this amount was lower than last year.
Some of the money goes to pay interest on loans, and some pays for subsidies on items like cooking gas and fertilisers.
The numbers show the government is trying to keep its finances on a steady and disciplined path.
The Centre's total receipts up to June 2026 stood at Rs 10,49,243 crore, 28.7% of the 2026-27 budget estimate.
Total receipts rose 11.5% compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
Total expenditure up to June 2026 was Rs 13,57,076 crore, 25.4% of the 2026-27 budget estimate.
Capital expenditure on infrastructure projects such as highways, railways and ports jumped 23.7% to Rs 3,40,258 crore.
Tax devolution to state governments fell to Rs 2,63,336 crore, Rs 63,605 crore lower than the previous year.
