Maharashtra FDA Seizes Adulterated Food Worth Rs 1.36 Crore
Maharashtra’s food safety officials checked many food businesses before the festival season.
They found food that was suspected to be unsafe, poorly made, or incorrectly labelled.
Officials seized or destroyed about 32,023 kilograms or litres of these products.
The products included sweets, dairy items, oils, spices, and dried fruits.
Twelve businesses lost their food licences for serious problems.
Thirty-six more businesses were told to improve their practices.
Officials also stopped a truckload of suspected adulterated sweets coming from Gujarat.

Maharashtra FDA teams seized or destroyed about 32,023 kg/litres of suspected adulterated, substandard, unhygienic, or misbranded food worth Rs 1,36,20,735.
The four-day drive from September 17 to September 20 inspected 64 hotels, restaurants, and dhabas across the state.
Food licences of 12 establishments were suspended, while 36 others received improvement notices for hygiene and compliance violations.
Authorities seized 1,868 kg of suspected substandard turmeric powder in Miraj MIDC and intercepted adulterated khoya-based sweets arriving from Gujarat.
Fourteen FIRs over banned gutkha and pan masala led to 15 arrests and the seizure of contraband worth Rs 1.38 crore.
