The Maharashtra FDA checks whether food is safe to eat.

Before Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri, officials inspected snack-making businesses.

They found many food products and ingredients that were poor quality.

The products included banana chips, sev, wafers and farsan.

Officials also found ingredients such as maida, besan and palmolein.

Nearly 29 tonnes of products and materials were seized.

The seized items were worth Rs 20.48 lakh.

The FDA said the food was made in very dirty and unsafe conditions.
