A large project is being built to provide drinking water to people in several Godavari districts.

The water will be taken from the Godavari River and cleaned before it reaches homes.

More than 500 kilometres of pipes will be laid.

New tanks and water treatment plants will also be constructed.

The project aims to serve more than 58 lakh people.

It is expected to be finished by March 2027.

The Central and state governments will each pay half of the cost.

Officials still need to solve some road and land issues, while industries have been asked to prevent waste from entering the river.
