Godavari Drinking Water Project Accelerated for October 2027 Completion
A large project is being built to bring more drinking water to Hyderabad.
The water will come from the Godavari through Mallannasagar.
Officials want the project finished by October 2027.
It is expected to cost ₹7,360 crore.
Most of the water will be used for people in Hyderabad.
Some water will help rejuvenate Osmansagar, Himayatsagar and the Musi.
Workers are building a treatment plant, a storage reservoir and pipelines.
Officials told construction companies to use more workers and machines so different parts can be built at the same time.
They also checked a pipeline test to make sure it can handle pressure without leaking.
HMWS&SB has ordered faster work on Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Scheme.
The ₹7,360-crore project will transfer 20 TMC of Godavari water from Mallannasagar to Hyderabad.
Of the allocation, 17.50 TMC is intended for drinking water and 2.50 TMC for rejuvenation works.
A 1,170 MLD treatment plant and an 80-million-litre master balancing reservoir are under construction at Ghanpur.
About 10 km of pipeline has been completed, while agencies were told to add workers, machinery and construction gangs.
