Godavari Water Set to Reach North Coastal Andhra September 2
Officials plan to bring Godavari River water to north coastal Andhra from September 2.
The water will travel through the Polavaram Left Canal.
It will help farmers grow crops and provide drinking water.
Some water will fill tanks and support irrigation.
About 250 cusecs will go to Visakhapatnam for drinking and industrial use.
The project is expected to benefit three assembly constituencies.
Officials say the supply could help farmers facing uncertain weather.
They are still deciding the detailed distribution so that no area is left out.
Godavari water is expected to reach north coastal Andhra through the Polavaram Left Canal from September 2.
About 3,500 cusecs will be sourced near Purushothapatnam for irrigation, drinking water and industrial needs.
The Pushkara system will fill 110 tanks and irrigate 1.48 lakh acres.
Water allocations are expected to cover 2,87,320 acres and provide drinking water to 9.23 lakh people.
About 250 cusecs will be supplied to Visakhapatnam, while officials finalize detailed allocations.
