Varuna Yagam Concludes with Grand Purnahuti at Srisailam
People at a famous temple in Srisailam held a very special prayer ceremony called Varuna Yagam.
It lasted for five days.
They prayed for rain, good crops, and the happiness of the whole state.
The ceremony followed very old traditions from the Vedas.
On the last day, they did a ritual called Purnahuti.
They placed coconuts, nice-smelling substances, new clothes, and other gifts into a sacred fire.
Priests and scholars chanted many holy verses during the days of prayer.
The chairman of the temple's trust board and other officials joined the final prayers.
The temple thanked everyone who helped make the ceremony happen smoothly.
Everyone hoped their prayers would bring good rain and prosperity to the state.
The five-day Varuna Yagam and Sahasra Ghatabhishekam at Srisailam Devasthanam concluded with the traditional Purnahuti on Tuesday.
The rituals were held from August 7 to 11 in strict accordance with Vedic traditions, seeking timely rainfall, good crop yields, and statewide well-being.
During Purnahuti, coconuts, fragrant substances, new clothes, and other sacred offerings were consigned to the holy Homa fire.
Priests and Vedic scholars performed recitations including Rishyasringa Japa, Varuna Japa, Bhagavata and Virata Parva recitations, and Panchakshari Japa.
Trust Board Chairman Sri Pothugunta Ramesh Naidu, Executive Officer M Srinivasa Rao, board members, and officials joined the concluding prayers and were thanked by the temple administration.
