Flagstaff Consecration Rituals Begin at Siddhavatam’s Historic Temple
A temple in Siddhavatam is holding a three-day ceremony for a new flagstaff.
The ceremony began on Saturday with traditional prayers and rituals.
Priests performed special preparations in a temporary ritual area called a Yagasala.
More prayers, chants and fire ceremonies are planned for Sunday.
The main flagstaff ceremony is scheduled for Monday morning.

Ten trained religious officiants, called Ritviks, are conducting the rituals.

Three-day consecration rituals for a new flagstaff began Saturday at the Sri Kamakshi Sameta Siddhateswara Swamy temple in Siddhavatam.
The opening programme included Veda Parayanam, Ganapathi Puja, Ritvijvaranam, Kankanadharana and Punyahavachanam.
Priests conducted Kalasha Pratishtha, Mandaparadhana, Ankurarpana, Agni Pratishthapana and Dhwajanga Homams.
Sunday’s schedule includes scriptural recitations, mantra rituals and special consecration homams beginning at 4:30 PM.
The newly sculpted flagstaff is scheduled for formal consecration Monday at 10:51 AM, with 10 Ritviks leading the proceedings.
