Varuna Yagam, Sahasra Ghatabhishekam performed at Srisailam temple
In South India, there is a very famous and old temple called Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, located at a place called Srisailam.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
People there performed a special prayer ceremony called Sahasra Ghatabhishekam.
In this ceremony, worshippers poured holy water from more than one thousand pots during the rituals.
This was done to ask for good rains, healthy crops, and prosperity for the State.
The priests brought holy water from the Krishna River at a place called Pathala Ganga.
Many priests and Vedic scholars came together to say the prayers.
The special ceremony lasted five days.
People believe that such prayers bring blessings and keep everyone happy and safe.
The Sahasra Ghatabhishekam was performed at Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple with more than 1,000 kalashas.
The ritual seeks timely rains, good crops and prosperity for the State.
The five-day ritual began on August 7 and will conclude on Tuesday.
About 36 ritwiks, along with temple priests and Vedic scholars, participated in the rituals.
Priests brought Krishna River water from Pathala Ganga and performed the Abhishekam as per Agama traditions.
