TTD Begins Varuna Rituals Seeking Rainfall for Andhra Pradesh
A religious organization in Tirumala has started special prayers for rain.
The prayers are called Karirishti Yagam, Varuna Japam and Parjanya Shanti Homam.
They are meant to ask for rainfall to come at the right time.
The prayers also seek prosperity for Andhra Pradesh and the country.
The programme began with several traditional ceremonies.
Thirty-two scholars will take part in the rituals.
The ceremonies will happen every day from 9 a.m.
to noon until September 3.
The final ceremony will be called Maha Purnahuti.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams began Karirishti Yagam, Varuna Japam and Parjanya Shanti Homam on Sunday.
The rituals are being held at the Dharma Giri Veda Vijnana Peetham in Tirumala.
The ceremonies seek timely rainfall and prosperity for Andhra Pradesh and the country.
The programme began with Ankurarpanam, along with Ganapati Puja, Punyahavachanam and Prayaschitta Homam.
Thirty-two Vedic, Shrauta and Smartha scholars will participate before the rituals conclude with Maha Purnahuti on September 3.
