A new waste facility is being developed in Badlapur.

It will handle up to 600 tonnes of municipal waste every day.

Waste will come from Ambernath, Kulgaon-Badlapur and Ulhasnagar.

Some materials, such as paper, plastic, metal and glass, will be separated for recycling.

Food and other biodegradable waste will be processed into compost.

Some waste may also be turned into Refuse Derived Fuel.

The facility will include a carefully managed landfill for waste that cannot be recovered.

Its goal is to make neighbourhoods cleaner and protect people and the environment.
