Himachal Monsoon Death Toll Reaches 250 Amid Widespread Damage
Heavy monsoon rains have caused serious problems in Himachal Pradesh.
A total of 250 people died during the 61-day period.
Of these, 103 deaths were linked directly to weather-related incidents, while 147 happened in road accidents.
Landslides, drowning, falls, snake bites and electrocution were among the reported causes.
Many roads are still blocked, making travel difficult.
Power and water services have also been disrupted in several areas.
Homes, animal shelters and other buildings were damaged.
The state has reported losses of more than Rs 1,184 crore, and emergency teams are working on repairs.
Himachal Pradesh recorded 250 deaths during 61 days of monsoon, including 103 weather-related fatalities and 147 road-accident deaths.
As of Sunday morning, 64 roads were blocked, with Mandi reporting 24 and Kullu 16.
Power disruptions affected 225 Distribution Transformer Regions, including 217 in Mandi’s Gohar division.
Nine water-supply schemes were disrupted, while 17 houses were destroyed and 382 partially damaged.
Cumulative monsoon losses exceeded Rs 1,184 crore, with the Public Works Department suffering the largest share.
