Visakhapatnam Water Supply Eases Following GVMC Special Action Plan
People in a city called Visakhapatnam were having trouble getting water.
So the city government made a special plan to fix the problem.
Trucks full of water, called tankers, are driving around giving free water to neighborhoods that need it the most.
The person in charge, Ketan Garg, is checking that everything works well.
He even visited the big water storage place to see how full it is.
The rivers and lakes that give the city water are in good shape right now.
Together they are sending about 84 units of water to the city every day.
Soon, one of the city's water systems will be cleaned, which will give even more water.
The free tanker service will keep going for another week.
The city wants to make sure nobody has to go without drinking water.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said water supply in Visakhapatnam is gradually easing following the municipal corporation's special action plan.
Free water supply through GVMC tankers will continue for another week in water-stressed areas to ensure residents face no inconvenience.
The Commissioner conducted a surprise inspection of the Town Service Reservoir on Wednesday, reviewing storage levels, tanker filling points and the supply system.
Reservoirs at Yeleru, Godavari, Thatipudi, Raiwada, Meghadri Gedda, Mudasarlova and Gambheeram, along with the Gosthani and Sarada rivers, are supplying 84.44 MGD (383.86 MLD) of water to GVMC.
Completion of desilting works on the Raiwada water supply system could augment the city's supply by approximately 3 MGD.
Coordinated measures include identifying water-stressed areas, field-level monitoring, alternative tanker supply, processing Dial-A-Tanker and online bookings, water quality testing and monitoring of tanker filling points.
