Godavari Waters Set to Reach North Andhra Through Canal
A canal project is bringing Godavari River water to parts of north Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to open the water flow on September 2.
The first release will send 30 TMC ft of water to Anakapalli district.
Officials expect the water to fill 110 tanks.
It could help irrigate 1.48 lakh acres in the district.
Connected river and canal systems may support more farms in nearby areas.
Altogether, about 2,87,320 acres of farmland could receive more reliable irrigation.
Police have made extensive security arrangements for the ceremony.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to release Godavari waters into the Polavaram Left Main Canal on September 2.
The first phase will release 30 TMC ft of water to Anakapalli district through the canal system.
The project is expected to fill 110 tanks and provide irrigation to 1.48 lakh acres in Anakapalli district.
Water links involving the Yeleru, Tandava, Varaha and Mavidivaka Gedda systems are expected to support 2,87,320 acres overall.
Around 1,600 police personnel, along with specialist security teams, have been deployed for the Chief Minister’s visit.
