Uttar Pradesh Crosses ₹1 Lakh Crore GeM Mark, Wins Awards
Uttar Pradesh has bought goods and services worth more than ₹1 lakh crore through an online government marketplace called GeM since 2017.
The state says this is more than 30 percent of all state purchases made through GeM.
It received three national awards for its work.
The awards recognized overall performance, high purchasing value, and efforts to train and reach users.
More than ₹55,972 crore of its purchases came from micro and small enterprises.
GeM also helped women entrepreneurs, SC/ST businesses, and startups sell to government buyers.
In one auction, industrial plots and sheds in Kanpur sold for much more than their reserve price.
Officials say the digital system makes government buying more transparent, competitive, and accessible to smaller businesses.
