Telangana Voter Roll Faces 50 Lakh Deletions by August 3
Over 50 Lakh Voters May Be Deleted in Draft Voter Roll · deccanchronicle.com

In Telangana, the draft voter list has more than 44 lakh people marked as absent, shifted, dead, or duplicate.

Officials say this could rise to over 50 lakh by the August 3 deadline.

Many of those marked for deletion have moved to other states and want to vote there, which could mean they lose the right to vote in Telangana.

Some people, like a BJP leader, say that booth workers uploaded blank forms to make it look like they had finished digitising the list.

The election commission is doing a special review to check the list before the deadline.

M.A. Mujeeb Ayyub

Advocate and volunteer of SIR election revision exercise

“"Most of the voters marked for deletion are migrants from Andhra Pradesh, who prefer to have their votes in their hometowns. Similarly, the voters from northern states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar prefer to have their vote in their respective places. This will result in them losing their voting right in Telangana," explained the official.”
