Massive Voter Deletions Spark Demands for Electoral Probe

Officials are checking voter lists in a process called a special intensive revision.

More than 73 lakh voters were placed on a list for people who were absent, had moved, had died, or were already registered elsewhere.

Some people say their names were removed even though they submitted the required forms.

One woman received an acknowledgement after submitting her form, but was still marked absent.

A man who has lived at the same address for 30 years was marked as permanently shifted.

Activists and political workers say these cases need to be investigated.

They are asking officials to check the records and put back names that were removed incorrectly.

The voter list contains more than 3.38 crore voters, and about 21.70% were placed in the ASDD categories.
