PM on India's 80th Independence Day: 'We Must Dream Big'
India celebrated its 80th Independence Day on August 15, 2026.
Independence Day is the day India remembers winning its freedom and honors the people who fought for it.
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, gave a big speech from the Red Fort in Delhi.
He told everyone to 'dream big' and work together to make India a developed country by the year 2047.
He also talked about how many new universities were built and how medical seats for students more than doubled.
Other leaders, like Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, also raised the flag in different cities.
The head of the RSS, Mohan Bhagwat, raised the flag in Nagpur and said India should be prosperous, secure and self-reliant.
Even the Indian cricket team celebrated by raising the flag in Sri Lanka before their match.
Google made a special colorful picture inspired by Indian textiles, and many cricket teams and celebrities shared happy messages.
