Maharashtra Leaders Mark 80th Independence Day; PM Modi Addresses Nation
India celebrated a very special national holiday called Independence Day.
This day remembers when India became free a long time ago.
In the state of Maharashtra, leaders held ceremonies where they raised the Indian flag.
The Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, raised the flag at the government office in Mumbai.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde raised the flag in the city of Thane.
Another Deputy Chief Minister, Sunetra Pawar, raised the flag in the district of Beed.
Many officials and citizens joined these celebrations with enthusiasm.
At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a big speech from the Red Fort in Delhi.
